Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Altiris, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATRS), a leading provider of IT management software. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions including regulatory and Altiris stockholder approvals, and is expected to close in the second calendar quarter of 2007.
Altiris will operate as a separate business unit within Symantec with the existing management team.
Back in December 2003 Altiris acquired Wise Solutions, makers of Wise Installation Studio (formerly Wise for Windows Installer and Wise Installation System).
