Hi i am trying to build a basic MSI, which needs to be installed on end-users. The requirement is that the end-user has to enter the server name while running the installation and that server name should be updated to a dat file in the target installation folder. Is there any script or option that i can use in the Installshield 2011 to make this work.

The text file changes view - if the DAT file is a text file.
If it's a binary file, you'd have to create a custom action.

Thanks Stefan for the reply. I had to create a custom action for the text file to modify the dat file too because i wanted my clients to enter their server name at the time of install and i suppose i had to include that too.
