Hi,
I have unable to find any documentation concerning the ways to avoid downgrade during an update by a reinstallation.
Has anyone an idea?

May I understand that the lack of answer means that it is not possible to avoid downgrade during a reinstall?
Stefan, any idea?

The default file versioning rules prevent a downgrade of files.
You can add AppSearch to detect a newer version and abort the install.
You can use the setup.exe launcher from Vinga Systems (listed on the Windows Installer tips page). It will pass in a property with the existing version when launching the update.

Additional note: you can NOT use the Upgrade table. It is processed only during major upgrade.
