Hello,

 

Could minor upgrades be independent?

I just would like to gather your expertise before implement and test my own.

 

Example,

Install_1 (Full)

Install_2 (Minor upgrade using install_1 setup.exe)

Install_3 (Minor upgrade using install_2 setup.exe)

Install_4 (Minor upgrade using install_3 setup.exe)

 

Could install_4 or 3 be installed from install_1?

OR

Should I use create a minor upgrade using Install_1 setup.exe for all (2,3,4)?

I actually was able to install independently using the Install_1 setup.exe for all installs.

Minor Updates which are shipped as full msi packages can be used as full install or to update any previous version. Only minor updates shipped as patch packages (.msp) require an appropriate previous version because they are deltas. (Both packages types can be embedded in a exe)

I haven't tried to build a minor upgrade as patch packages (.msp). 

I should definitely try.
