Has anyone ever encountered the following error message
before ?
C:\winnt\system32\scrrun.dll, not updated because file is protected by o/s. o/s protected version
Is: 5.1.0.5010, package version is: 5.6.0.6626
If so, how did you get around it ?

I had exactly the same error and it seems it happens if you want to install a newer version of scrrun.dll over a older version.
This scrrun.dll is very subtle. It can be only updated through clear defined system updates (servicepacks, IE).
In my case (I am working on Win2000, IE5.5), I wanted to install on a Win2000 machine. I got the error you described above. I took a scrrun.dll from a Win2000 machine without servicepacks and with default IE installed.
Now everything works fine on every OS!

You need add condition to component with scrrun.dll
"VersionNT<500"
This prevent install this files on PFS.
