Hi,
I am using Installshield Professional 6.3
Anybody out there know to set the file permissions on the target directory based on the type of user who is installaing.
If the user is the Power suer or Admin user , some of the files in the target directory should be set with RWX permissions.
IIf the user is an orisnary user the files installed must be set with REad only permissions.
Any help is appreciated as this is very urgent.
Thanks
A

you could try to run Microsoft's cacls command line tool.

Hi stephen,
I am in need of setting file permissions on two conditions.
1. while deleting a directory, the folder is set REad only and hence can't delete.
and so I wan to set the permissons on the folder irrespective of the user.
2. I have to share a folder after installaiton and name the share as Service and then add the esisting user to this share and set the permissions.
Is there any way
Using cacls function how can do the above operation, because the command doesn't seem to be working .
Please let me know anybody out there,
Thanks
A
