I added a CustomAction called "BackupServer" to the InstallSequence just before CreateFolders. I added an entry to the ActionText table in the Power Editor called "BackupServer". The description is "Backing up application server". There is no Template. When the UserInterface is run "Generating script operations for action:" shows up then my CA runs and then "Creating folders" shows up. Why isn't my AT showing up?

That's always worked for me.
Possible issues.
Is your action deferred? Action text is displayed during the execution phase of a deffered custom action.
Are you doing other progress bar manipulation with MsiProcessMessage?
Is your action very very short?

It wasn't defered. After I defered it it did work. However I could not get any properties. I found an article on the KB though and it worked. Q104413
