Has anyone seen Error 1607 using Developer 7.x?

Yes it means the ISScript engine hasn't / couldn't be installed. YOu need it for the install to run properly.

I am also facing the same problem, i know that the ISScript engine couldnt get installed.but what is the solution / workaroung. I am trying to install the setup on a fresh NT Machine with Service Pack 6 and IE5.5. Any Pointers ,hints.

Hi,
Check the Windows Installer service. Maybe you haven't it or it is corrupted. Try at first execute instmsiw.exe (it is MSi engine).

This may or not be your problem but.....
this weekend, I have to use a Windows XP development system instead of Windows 2000. Because I was using an older version of ORCA to validate, (version 1.2?) I was getting tons of errors validating. After applying the new ORCA from the MSDN platform SDK, the errors went away.
