I would like to determine when the os is xp, then install an XP shortcut and set the compatibility tab.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks!

Detecting XP is easy (VersionNT=501) but I don't know how to set the compatibility settings.

Here is how to set the application compatibility mode tab of Windows XP by writing to the registry.
Using the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows(space) NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers key, set the "name" to the full absolute path of the executable, such as "C:\Windows\Notepad.exe" (minus the quotes), and the "value" to a string value of either WIN95, WIN98, NT4SP5 or WIN2000. Note: WIN98 is also used for ME.
