Hi,
I heard that It's no longer recommended to use install MSDE as Merge Module,so I want to ask if it is possible to install MSDE as a setup prerequisite based on user choice. I mean i want to add my own custom dialog where users would choose whether to install MSDE or not. How could I do this job?

InstallShield's Prerequisite functionality doesn't support use choice.

So, in that case is this possible using MSDE merge module - install MSDE depending on user choice?

Microsoft recommends not to use the MSDE merge modules anymore. You could build an exe that would ask the user whether they want to install MSDE. You could either write this yourself, or maybe use a CD FrontEnd tool such as DemoShield. (I'm not a DemoShield expert but I think you could detect MSDE in the registry and display the choice conditionally to the user)
