Hello,
I am running Windows 2000 Pro, I am having problems with Windows Installer. For example when I try to install Auto Cad Wise Installation Wizard opens followed by a message titled "windows installer" Incorrect command line parameter, followed by copyright info. I have tried installing the .msi package in the command prompt, also with no luck. Also I can't uninstall some programs like Adobe After Effects, in the Add/Remove Programs MEnu, I get an error message that says: "The Windows Installer service could not be accesed. Contact your support personnel to verify that the Windows Installer service is properly registered"

I read on a website that I can unistall the Windows Installer by using SC delete MSIServer" using the SC.EXE utility from the Windows NT resource kit works. Does this really work?
I have downloaded and tried to reinstall Windows Installer, but it says the version is already installed on my system, and apparently you guys say there is no way to remove it.

I would greatly appreaciate any comments or info.
Thanks.

Jochen

Hi euphoriamo,

have you looked in the Microsoft Knowledge Base? There are many possibilities that may cause this problem.
It seems that the Windows Installer Service has internal problems on this computer. huh.gif

Here are several articles:

and the search results:
search result no. 1

Hope this helps.
