Hi, I'm a newbie in Windows Installer and have taken over a complete InstallShield-Developer7-project. Now I've tested installation on NT4-machine with service pack 5. We use MSI engine 2.0. I heard about problems in MSI engine version 1.2 during patching, is this right? Should I use older engine or is there a way to check installed service pack so that I can catch the error message.

You can use the ServicePackLevel property to determine the installed service pack. In the Developer 7.0 MSI Help library you can search on "Operating System Properties". This will take you to a page will all sorts of helpful OS properties.
