I am unsure if I am posting the right place. I am attempting to install software for a maxtor external hard drive. The installation fails midway through and reports this error:
string product_name was not found in string table
Error number 0x80040706 object reference
I am running Win XP.
Please inform.

I suggest that you contact Maxtor. See also http://consumer.inst...eld.com/who.asp
The only thing I could suggest at this point is that you change the TEMP environment variables to a shorter path (like C.\Temp)
