I have a 64bit install using IS7.04. I have the schema set to 200. I am trying to install this package on Windows Server 2003 (the latest and greatest as of last week: May 2003). When installing (as an administrator) it is fine until it's ready to install the files (so it's has shown me the license file and asked for my final destination, etc) when I get this error message:

Error: -1633 This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor.

I have the Template summary defined as "Intel64;1033". I thought maybe since my processor is AMD64, I redefined the template summary to ";1033". However, the error message during the compile says "Intel64 must be specified in the template of the Summary Stream"

What do I do? I need this package to install...

I posted the question to MSI's installer chat. Here is the response I received from them:

There is no currently released version of MSI that supports native AMD64 product install. For information on AMD64 support at Microsoft, please contact x64info@microsoft.com. Note that Installshield's support for AMD64 platforms is a different question than the native MSI engine's support. For more information on Installshield's AMD64 plans, you would need to contact Installshield.

It sounds like MSI will be coming out with version 3.0. Currently beta has been released...not sure when it will officially be released and I can't find any kind of document of what 3.0 will include.

Right now I have my installer setup as a 32bit application with the processor type left blank. I'm lucky that I'm only installing files and starting 1 NT service...ie nothing fancy.

Intel64 works under the 64-bit builds of Xp and 2K3 for AMD-64.

Did you set your components as 64-bit?

Thank you for the replies. I set the component to 64-bit and set the Template Summary to Intel64;1033.
The error 1633 is the feature transfer error.
I guess I can test it by setting the component and building as a 32-bit application even though the application is 64-bit.

I contacted InstallShield and I got the answer. I have not tested yet.
For AMD64 and English, you should have AMD64;1033.
