I apologize a head of time if this is a newbie question but I was wondering if there was anyway to hook or trap an MSI error. I don't want to stop it, I would just like to perform some custom logging before the installation terminates.

If the error is thrown by your own custom action, then you can log information from inside your DLL (or whatever your custom action type is)
Otherwise errors are automatically logged to the installer log (if logging is turned on) and the windows event log.
