The service doesn't exist in the machine, I'm not upgrading or anything, this is a clean machine. In NT 4 it works flawlessly. The problem occurs only in Win2000. It actually happens during InstallExecute (because AFAIK, StopServices only generates script code). The log shows error 1921 (from the MSI help file: "Service '[2]' ([3]) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services." ) But I'm installing as administrator !! Any help will be greatly appreciated

For starting and stopping services, I use some script code.  If you look under the IS5/6 Samples, NT Services section of this site, you'll find some excellent code for controlling services from IScript.  This code works fine with ISWI.
