Does my old setups packaged in NT need to be modified in order to run in XP. Since, one of my setup.exe does not work in XP, when i double click over it, it automatically closes. No dialogs appeared. Do I need to download any patch or buy add-ons for Windows Installer for preparing new packages for XP?

Windows Installer supports Windows XP without any modifications. You can check for it using the VersionNT property.
VersionNT = 400 means Windows NT 4.0
VersionNT = 500 means Windows 2000
VersionNT = 501 means Windows XP
This is available in the Windows Installer documentation from Microsoft. Look in the Appendix section under Operating System Property Values.
