Hi friends,

I kindly ask you whether there is a method to retrieve the situation of a service (for instance MySql) using InstallShield.
The current method I am using is launching the batch file which includes the command: net start > "a special file". Then use the built in function "FileGrep" to confirm whether the name of the wanted service is included in this special file, if yes it means this service has been started.
But I am afraide that there are some risks. So would someone tell me wheter there are any other methods? For instance, are there any Keys or Values in the Register Table presents the service situation could be used and retreived?

Thanks & Best Regards.

Did you look at the sample scripts at http://www.installsi.../en/isp_svc.htm , in particular "Starting, Stopping and Deleting NT Services" (NTService105.zip)
