I am using the InstallShield provided merge module "Microsoft Ole 2.40 for Windows NT™ and Windows 95™ Operating Systems".
My question is - should I be installing this merge module on a Windows 2K machine? I am presently installing it because I was under the impression that W2K was NT.
Any replies will be appreciated.

You don't need to worry about it. This is a well written Microsoft (Not InstallShield) merge module. It contains the logic to decide whether it is needed or not..

Sorry Ian, but that's wrong.
OLEAUT32.MSM is one of the bad written and really badly supported MSMs from Microsoft. Further info can be found in Installsites Bugs in Merge Modules section.

I have been lucky. I have a later version of the merge module that does not have the problem. As mentioned in the bug report you pointed to.
