Hi,

I have run my installation in win 95/98 and 2000 machines without problem, but when I tried to install on a winnt server the installation failed..

Some lines from the log:

MSI (s) (8D:B2): MainEngineThread is returning 1603

and earlier in the log:

The cause for the error is probably a few lines above this one:
MSI (s) (8D:B2): MainEngineThread is returning 1603

Yes, i have this error.

Do you have any idea what could be the cause of this. I read in some newsgroup that the person installing must be logged in as a local administrator. On my machine I am logged in as a system administrator on a domain...

Eva,

You are getting the error 2318, which means "File does not exist" and then the name of Your MSI File You are trying to install. I think it is a problem of user rights on that special directory where the file is located, or if You try to connect to a network the share permissions on that share or a too slow network connection.
Try the following: Log in on that machine as a local administrator. Create a directory on that machine, copy the installation files there and try to install from this directory.
