I am developing a setup for an application which uses MSDE or MS SQL Server. On a clean machine, it installs OK but I can't get a connection unless I get my setup to run sqlredis.exe. However, I'd rather use merge modules if I can.
I tried adding the MSDE 2000 Connectivity Components merge module to my setup, but it just froze after the splash screen.
Can anyone give me any advice, please?

Don't use the MSDE 2000 merge modules. They are only provided to support existing setups that were created with them. New setups should not use the merge modules, but run the MSDE setup. That's what Microsoft recommends.

Either using an external wrapper/launcher exe, or as a custom action in the UI sequence.
