I am looking for a way to detect if users are installing properly under Terminal Server or Citrix environments. I would like to warn the user that they are not in install mode and suggest that they cancel the installation. Our MIS chief has seen other installation that do this, so I know it is possible. Anybody had to do this before? Any ideas?

When you install system-wide (ALLUSERS=1), Windows Installer itself brings the system in install mode.
I saw this happening on Windows NT 4 Terminal Server Edition, Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2003 - I am not sure about Windows 2008 but I can't see why this behavior should be changed.
