Hello,
I have a problem with a small update applied by reinstalling.
Sometimes I notice that installed features are not reinstalled.
Each time it seams that this is because the feature appears in the log file as advertised, which is absolutely not the case !

MSI (s) (04:58) [15:42:15:003]: Feature: Shared_Components; Installed: Advertise; Request: Reinstall; Action: Reinstall
.....
MSI (s) (04:58) [15:42:15:019]: Component: Shared_Components__rteDSPT.dll_French; Installed: Local; Request: Null; Action: Null


Entering the maintenance mode shows that the feature is installed.

Am I missing something here ?

Is there a way to change something in the registry, so that this feature would be detected as installed to be successfully updated ?

I bet you'l also find SELMGR errors in the log. You probably removed a component from a feature.

Nope, there is no SELMGR errors in the log.

You need to check your Component GUIDs and see if you have lesser envtries as compared to your previous patch. You most likely have violated the upgrade component rules.

I had similiar issue when i was working on my second service pack.
