If RegDBGetKeyValueEx() is used to read a string from the registry and this string contains a '&' character, it won't be returned.
It deleted the rest of the message to save to your time:
RegDBGetKeyValueEx() read the registry string inculding the '&' character, but I will not be shown when inspecting the variable. So I was bug hunting at the wrong place.
