Hi,

I'm having problem during uninstallation. Few components are not uninstalling. InstallValidate nulls out the uninstall request. These components come from a merge module.

Is there a verbose log setting that tells WHY InstallValidate nulls out a request?

I could not reply to the original post. So I am adding the reply as new topic. Please give me access to Add Reply.

I checked the machine. The components are not registered to any other product or feature. I also checked if the MSI log has listed these components in the Disallow Uninstall list. And they were NOT disallowed from uninstall.

One important thing is that all these components come from a merge module. But only few of these merge module componets have this problem. All other components get uninstalled.

I have merged your post with the original thread. What happens if you click the "Add Reply" button, either at the top or at the bottom of the screen? Do you get an error message?

Do these components have a omponentId GUID in the msi? Do they have the permanent flag set?
