I have a couple of questions regarding MSI files.

1. Under standard setup, a MSI is created for you. Are you supposed to be allowed to run the MSI alone or is it just used by setup.exe?

Thank you,
Enoch Chum
2. Can you convert a standard setup project into a Basic MSI project?

3. Are there any tutorials out there on how to create a Basic MSI project because I couldn't get it to work. I the following error upon running the MSI file.

Internal Error 2235., RuntimeFlags, SELECT 'Component', 'RuntimeFlags', 'KeyPath' FROM 'Component' WHERE 'Component'=?

1. No, setups created from Standard projects must always be launched via setup.exe

2. I think you can change the type, but you probably lose your custom code.

3. Do you have any files in the project?

Thanks for the response. For question 3, I just forgot to put components under each feature.

2. Unfortunately you can't go from a standard project to a basic project.  I learned that the hard way.  You're right though - there is very little documentation (next to none) on using a basic project
