URGENT: deselecting a feature doesn't uninstall it

I have a standard project (IS 7.0). My problem is that when modifying an installation the verbose log indicates that it is installing the selected features but not uninstalling the deselected ones. It almost seems like it thinks the feature is not currently installed but it does have it checked in the feature dialog box. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Maybe you could post up the log file? (make sure it is zipped up).
Are your features set to always install? or do you have somethign set in the condition table that might affect this?
