hi!

Say I write a software in which a file say a.exe takes a file b.txt as input from

installdir/ folder1/b.txt

now if I want to keep b.txt at source, how can I do that using msi ? ( without changing my code of a.exe). Can a.exe read b.txt from source? 'a.exe' is unable to read b.txt if I make component of b.txt as favor source.

I don't fully understand what you are trying to do, but try assigning the b.txt file to a separate feature and then set this feature to favour source.
