hi,

I want to upgrade my product from 10.0.111 to 10.0.222.
I create a setup.ini which include the cmdline REINSTALL= ALL.

The package name of 10.0.111 is abc.msi, while the name of 10.0.222 is abcd.msi.
So when upgrade setup.exe still to find the abc.msi from my source cd.
The file can not be found indeed.

So What can I do to avoid the error?

Thanks in advance.

If you want to make a Minor update: you must also specify REINSTALLMODE=vomus, and you CANNOT change the name of the .msi file.

If you make a Major Upgrade: you shouldn't specify REINSTALL at all. Instead populate the Upgrade table to automatically uninstall the old version.

Thank you very much!

I will do a upgrade with reinstall mode.

The process is below.
1.I regenerate the package code of the new products
2.Create a new file named setup.ini which is in the same folder with setup.exe.And set the parameter REINSTALLMODE=veums REINSTALL=ALL
3.When I launch the setup.exe the dialog popup to ask me if I will upgrade.
4.But I get the property of REINSTALLMODE,it is voums.Which result in some files can not upgrade.

My question is how can I use the parameter veums.

Thanks in advance!!

I guess your setup.exe is passing this REINSTALLMODE in. Which tool are you using?

The proper way would be to make sure your newer exe also has a higher version number so "o" instead of "e" should work.
