The installation that I've written for my program fails to upgrade on Windows 98 SE. It will uninstall and install just fine, but it gives the following error while upgrading. "1: This installation cannot be run by directly launching the MSI package. You must run setup.exe" However, setup.exe was being run. This only occurs in 98 and during an upgrade does anyone have any ideas? Please help. This is very frustrating even though I think that it is only a bug.

Are you using an Install Script project?
I have only seen this before when the user tries to run the msi directly, or they are using the wrong setup.exe.
If you are using Install shield, maybe try searching the install shield FAQ's?
