I can no longer install or uninstall anything that uses the InstallShield Wizard (which is pretty much 90% of all programs). The setup initialises, but when it comes to the "setup is performing the requested operations" screen with the progress bar, it just sits on 0% and does nothing - I mean nothing. I've left it sitting for 2 hours and it doesn't change. It also doesn't respond to clicking cancel or trying to close it, you have to end it manually by doing CTRL+ALT+DEL, selecting it from the applications tab and ending it that way. When you do and it finally closes, about 10 seconds later an error message pops up with: "An error occured while launching the setup. The remote procedure call failed."

I've had no luck from the company who makes it or Microsoft. So I hope someone here can help me.

Maybe it tries to launch some sub install in the background?
