Hello world,
I have a basic msi (installshield 2008) that consumes a merge module that installs a file on the hard drive of a pc.
How can I install this file without Windows Installer knowing about it ?

Don't install it using the MSI tables (File table etc.). Instead install it using a custom action. But why would you want to do this? You can mark a file as permanent if you want to leave it behind at uninstall.
